We are March of Dimes

March of Dimes started out as a simple idea – brothers Robin and Jon Moss, alongside Tom Surman and Cat Firman, would write a collection of songs to commemorate, celebrate and remember a specific time by. It became a kind of audio time-capsule for what, looking back, was one of our greatest summers. The ideas and music came together quickly and we recorded it with our good friend and producer Lewis Sleeman to form our debut album, ‘All Intents and Purposes.’

The album came out to very positive reviews (click here for a closer look) and we all felt we wanted to take it further. With a giddy enthusiasm we set about enhancing our sound: Sean Murricane joined us on bass guitar and, after Robin migrated to Canada, we also recruited Gordon McKiernan on lead guitar – giving us the present line up of the band.

Since then we have worked hard at our live sound, developing more intricate, layered harmonies and writing new material that pushes us forward musically, sonically and dynamically. Jon is our wordsmith and lead singer but we write the music collaboratively, each bringing ideas and motifs to his song structures to create the finished article.

Last year the five of us released ‘From Those Who Were There’, an EP with strong themes of change and the passing of time running through it. The EP demonstrated the developments we had made in our songwriting and playing and the result is a fuller kind of sound. Our aim was to raise the bar with respect to the orchestration and arrangement of our vocal harmonies; a strong suit that we are excited to be recognised for. Again, we were chuffed when it received some great reviews (click here for a peek at those too).

2011 brings great things, we are back in the studio writing furiously and planning to release our as-yet-untitled second album this year (a single from which will be released in Autumn!) and a series of gigs.

Thanks for all of your support so far and we hope to see you soon.

Xx
